Closing the Gap in Surgical Device Design

Have you ever noticed that the operating table is too high, your PPE doesn’t fit properly, or a device’s design makes your job harder?

Join us on Thursday, 7 May at 6pm for a webinar exploring the importance of inclusive surgical devices and how better design can support the needs of female surgeons and improve patient outcomes.

Led by Felicity Meyer, Chair of the Women in Surgery Forum, this session will bring together a range of expert voices and perspectives. We will look at how device design impacts everyday surgical practice, the progress being made and how you can help drive change through innovation.

Speakers include:

• Lara Zaki and Claire Young, Team Consulting

From a leading medical technology development consultancy, Lara and Claire will examine specific devices and the design challenges primarily faced by female surgeons. Building on their innovation workshop at last year’s Women in Surgery Conference, they will highlight real-world examples and practical insights.

• Colin Bicknell, Vascular Surgeon and Principal Investigator, Imperial College London

Colin will share the patient perspective, exploring how surgical device design can influence patient experience and outcomes.

• Terouz Pasha, Surgical Innovation Fellow, RCS England

Terouz will reflect on her own experiences and discuss practical steps that can be taken to improve inclusivity in surgical innovation.

The session will conclude with a live Q&A, giving you the opportunity to put your questions to the panel.
